You are NOT what you eat

You are what you absorb.

You  might be choosing all the right foods, but if your digestion isn’t up to par, it doesn’t really matter. So often, we eat the most nutritious things, but not in the most productive way.

To capitalize on all the goodness in your food, it has to be mechanically and chemically broken down to its molecular components within your body. That starts with chewing thoroughly, eating mindfully, and being conscious of how stress creeps into our mealtimes.

Nutrient absorption has to do with how we eat, how we live our lives, and how healthy our guts are. We can consciously shift our patterns by paying attention to our behavior around eating.

“…HBH is extremely knowledgeable and their pragmatic, fact based digestible way of explaining how our body works, what works for my body specifically and how to ensure I am taking the best steps to take care of it has been life changing. I feel lucky and grateful to have met HBH and I would recommend them to anyone without doubt.” — Lucia S.

EATING HYGIENE TIP #5

Here’s a challenge: Eat without distraction for one meal. Turn off all the screens and noise. Find a clean, quiet place to eat. Maybe light a candle. Align your posture and your breath. Reflect on your gratitude for this meal. Then, dig in and enjoy.

Sitting in silence can be challenging, but with practice and intention, you’ll find yourself paying more attention to your body and also engaging your senses better, so you can enjoy your food. It will make you a better digester, a slower eater, and a more tuned-in human who knows exactly when it’s time to stop eating.
