Build a Better Body Image
When it comes to body image, nothing is more important than learning to love and respect yourself. And sometimes, you’ve got to fake it till you make it. In this final installment of our 5-part newsletter series on body image, we invite you to pamper yourself a little.
Point #5: Treat Yourself Like the Beautiful Being You Truly Are
Here are some of the best ways to ensure you’re taking care of yourself:
Sleep
Are you getting enough sleep? If you’re like most people, probably not. Here’s a helpful tip: go to bed early enough so that you wake up before your alarm goes off at least 90% of the time. To help you fall asleep earlier, avoid screens (TV, smartphone, tablet, etc.) at least one full hour before your target bedtime. These devices emit full-spectrum light that can disrupt your system.
Me Time
This one is doctor’s orders. With a hectic job, family, or even needy pets, it can be tough to carve out enough “me time.” But finding time to be alone and do things for yourself is crucial—whether it’s taking a walk after dinner or reading in bed at night. Prioritize yourself!
Pamper Yourself
Treat your body like the beautiful thing it is (because it is!). When you mistreat your body with too much wine, skipping meals, gorging on sweets, or over/under-exercising, you enter dangerous territory. Instead of chasing diets or logging extra hours at the gym, pay tribute to your body by pampering it. Your body works hard for you; say thank you with some relaxation and care. You’ll never regret it.
