Too Busy To Eat Well?

Green bean salad, a quick meal to make when you are too busy to cook.

Hi, I’m Shanti, owner of Happy Belly Health®, a functional medicine health coach practice specializing in weight loss and digestion.

HBH TIP: Delegate what consumes your time, what you don’t enjoy, and what someone else can do better

“I’m too busy”, “I get home too late”, “I’m too tired”, “the kids won’t eat it”…. I’m sure I’ve forgotten some of the other reasons people end up eating unhealthy take-out, or just unhealthfully in general.

Here’s the thing: If you had a personal chef who’d have your delicious dinner waiting for you when you arrived at home, chances are you’d benefit in tons of ways:

  1. You’d enjoy your food… perhaps even savor it!
  2. You would eat dinner earlier and have more time to digest and unwind properly before bed.
  3. Your time would be freed up to enjoy your family, start a hobby, or take a bath and relax.
  4. You’d probably have an easier time losing weight because you’d be able to enjoy more vegetables and lighter dinners that are actually satisfying… which also means you’d be much less likely to cave to comfort foods because… well, there’s simply less stress.

If you have the budget, by all means, hire a chef! (I have a few great recommendations, so feel free to ask!)

However, for those of us without the budget for a personal chef, I recommend finding a grocery and meal delivery service that you can trust to offer healthy, nutrient-dense, high-quality foods. (Yes, it’s possible to find a service that delivers both, and that’s ultimately the best option.)

My friends at Luke’s Local do just that. I’ve met with their chefs and buyers to help curate Happy Belly Health-approved meals and grocery items that will keep you on track with your health goals. Plus, their food is absolutely delicious!

How It Works

  • Each week, they offer mouth-watering menu items you can easily order through their app.
  • Delivery happens within hours, straight to your door!
  • Need additional groceries like seasonal fruit, nut butter, or eggs? You can order those too!

This Week’s Special Picks

I’m especially excited about their vegetable sides this week. We’ve been grilling outdoors more, and sides are often overlooked. It’s such a relief to order something tasty that pairs well with BBQ dishes. Here are a couple of standouts:

  • Spicy Green Beans: Marinated in Calabrian chili oil, champagne vinegar, and olive oil—perfectly flavorful!

  • Yams: I love yams, and theirs are super sweet mini garnets, roasted to perfection. The touch of Spanish paprika, salt, and pepper makes the flavor sing.

Order plenty for leftovers too!

The Bottom Line

Don’t neglect what’s important—your family’s health. And remember, it’s okay to get help when you need it.
