Homemade Nut Burgers

Make your own Homemade Nut Burgers for a delicious vegan alternative to traditional burgers.

  • 3⁄4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 3⁄4 cup walnuts
  • 
1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1⁄8 tsp cayenne
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 small carrot, finely grated
  • 1⁄2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 1⁄2 cups cooked brown rice
  • 2 Tbs tomato sauce
  • 1­-2 tsp ghee or butter
  • 8 large pieces of your favorite lettuce
  1. Grind sunflower seeds and walnuts to a fine meal in a small grinder or food processor.
  2. Place in a bowl and add cumin, oregano, cayenne, garlic, carrot, and salt; mix well.
  3. Fold in cooked brown rice.
  4. Add tomato sauce a little at a time until you get a stiff, but workable, texture.
  5. Form mixture into patties with moist hands. Refrigerate patties for a few hours if possible.
  6. Lightly coat a skillet with ghee or butter and brown patties on both sides.
  7. Serve over salad or use lettuce to wrap patty and enjoy your burger.
